Dr. Talia Alexander joined Durango Equine Veterinary Clinic in June 2011 as our Intern for 2011-2012.Dr Alexander received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2011. In veterinary school, she completed specialized course work in equine medicine and surgery, equine nutrition, equine theriogenology and problem solving.  Dr. Alexander obtained her undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Arts at Tufts University in Massachusetts in 2004. She also did large animal course work at the School for International Training in Quito, Ecuador. Because of this training, Dr. Alexander is bilingual and can speak Spanish.  This is a great asset in the Southwest!

 
Prior to joining Durango Equine, Dr. Talia Alexander completed veterinary externships her senior year at vet school at Carolina Equine Hospital in North Carolina, Durango Equine Veterinary Clinic,  and Old Dominion Equine Associates in Virginia. Prior to Veterinary School, she worked as a scientist at Exponent, Inc, a consulting firm in Washington DC. Dr. Alexander worked for a year at the Marion DuPont Scott Equine Medical Center as the Nursing Assistant Shift Supervisor. During her summers, she completed summer internships at Harvard Medical School’s Center for Animal Resources and Comparative Medicine as a veterinary intern and University of Virginia’s Center for Biological Timing as a laboratory technician.

 Dr. Alexander is also skilled at fencing and was a varsity member of Tuft University’s Varsity Women’s Fencing team! She moved to Arizona in June 2011 with her boyfriend, Ollie. She recently adopted a dog, Latka, who now joins her family.
